Skincare Finds
Let me start off by prefacing this with my skin type because the skin products that work for me will not work for everyone. If you generally fall in the normal to combination skin type that is prone to hyperpigmentation and is sensitive then the products I mention will work great for you! I
Acure Brightening Glow Lotion-
I discovered this lotion on a quick whole foods run as I was replenishing my Acure face scrub (which by the way is amaaaazing!). I have been now using this lotion for about 2 weeks and I find it to be a great brightening and hydrating body lotion for the day time. For my night time routine I like to use something a bit more moisturizing and greasy if you will. It provides a sheer glow to the skin. The scent is quite subtle and fresh. Normally I avoid fragrance in my lotions as I find that irritates my skin but this lotion doesn’t react with my skin if anything it has a soothing effect because of the colloidal oatmeal in it. Overall I would recommend this lotion if you’re looking for a clean body lotion.
LaVanilla The Healthy Deodorant Sport Luxe-
This is my holy grail deodorant and the best part is it's aluminum and paraben free. I have tested many "natural" deodorants but they never seem to last. I’ve tried and tested this one's wear at the gym, out and about and it truly lasts and works great. The scent is also very fresh unlike other natural deodorants that I have tested.I can’t recommend this deodorant enough.
The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution-
This is a new item in my skincare routine that I have incorporated in my night-time regime. I use it every 2-3 days when I am not using any other products with active ingredients. Unlike other glycolic treatments this toner is very gentle. This toner has been helping my skin even out in areas where I have a bit of pigmentation. Any time I use this toner I use a hydrating moisturizer afterwards so the glycolic acid doesn’t dry out my skin because chemical exfoliants like glycolic acid usually have the tendency to do that.
Farmacy Cheer Up Brightening Eye Cream-
I just finished using my first jar of this eye cream and just placed an order for another! I would have to say it takes a couple weeks to work but I definitely noticed it helping my dark circles and keeping my under eye skin moisturized. I find it works really nice under makeup and isn't greasy.
Side note- For any eye cream to be effective you have to be making sure you are sleeping enough and your nutrition is on point because if you are not doing either of those things in conjunction with a good eye cream then no product is going to give you drastic results. So get in those Z’s and make sure you get enough vitamins and minerals in your diet. Also, South Asian ladies tend to have more pigmentation naturally and your dark circles could be hereditary. So don’t sweat it if nothing seems to be working, embrace them :) Certain makeup products can cover them up whenever you want but in my case there have been so many occasions I use my dark circles/eye lids to advantage as a natural eyeshadow. I’ve been asked so many times what eyeshadow I use on my lids or right below my lash line and 90 % of the time I’m not wearing anything. The trick is to apply your concealer a bit lower than you normally would in order for it to work:)
Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm-
When removing makeup I used to use face wipes as the first step of my cleansing but I recently incorporated a cleansing balm and I love it! It removes all of my makeup and preps my skin for my second cleanser. It is easy to wash off and doesn't leave an oily residue like other balms/cleansing oils I have tried in the past. Face wipes are great on the go but they’re not that great for the environment and tugging on your face will speed up the aging process.
Ren Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask-
This mask is on the pricier side but I would highly recommend it! If you need to even out discolouration, dark spots or blemishes this works amazing! I use this for a pick me up here and there but when I have dark spots from an occasional breakout I use it weekly and it works wonders! A more economical alternative is the Andalou Natural Pumpkin Honey Glycolic Mask and it works just as good!
Vichy Idealia Nuit Cream-
This night cream is amazing! My skin adores it. I have been using this cream for years on rotation with other products. I always use it for a 2-3 month span then switch it with something new so that my skin doesn’t get immune to its effects. It is very moisturizing, anti aging and compliments my serums. Every time I use this cream I wake up with a healthy glow.
I have a step by step skincare routine in the works however I am testing out a few new products so I do want to make sure they are working well before I share them! Hope this post helped those looking for new products to try!
Take care :)
